Thinking out loud – as a toddler!

Oh boy! It wasn’t only me who couldn’t wait till I’m 6 months old on this coming Monday to get to taste the solid food. It’s mummy! She’s introduced the rice cereal mixed with some formula to me yesterday noon for lunch! She even bought the Rusk biscuits for me readily. Do I like my first bite on solid meal? So, what do you think?

Getting ready to take a bite… and pose for the photo album! :D

Ah umm….

Yum Yum!

Ah hah…….The happy me with a delightful face!

These photos above indeed showed that I loved the my first meal very much… however, this wasn’t the actual situation happened as described in the photos… hahaha! Well, I, Ryan Lee DON’T LIKE the RICE CEREAL! You can see my reactions when I took my first feed of the cereal as below… :P

Yeeeer… what’s that you put in my mouth??

Yucks….!

Help…. help… it taste so geli!!

Yeeee…. sticky sticky one!

I don’t want… pleaaaase don’t feed me these!!

I don’t get the idea what they’re stuffing me lah… so, I let my mouth open wide and refused to close it and let cereal stayed inside my mouth. Besides, the clever me (ahem), got the idea of spitting them out once the adults keep feeding me that…! Hehe! :D

Hehe…That’s the mess I created for rejecting the yucky yuck cereal called food! :P

Nevertheless, I was forced to finish up the rice cereal! I heard my granny said I behaved like that because this was my first time eating the cereal that’s why I don’t know how to swallow it and I’ll get used to it after feeding me few more times! Can somebody out there please help me?? Tell my parents & granny that I don’t like it! I bet the adults going to torture me with this again!! Help!! :(

Check this out…I’ve got so many soothers that came in different shapes, sizes and types… hehe! There are soothers made of silicone & latex too. You must be wondering why I have so many soothers, huh? Well, the transparent white color soother came together with the Avent sterilizer pack. When I was 0-2 months old, I’ve been quite a naughty baby as I kept waking up hourly and whined alot at night. Also, I tend to cling on mummy’s breast a lot and I can say most of the time even I’m not hungry. :P So, my parents thought may be I needed a soother so that soothes me to sleep well even though they knew they shouldn’t introduce any soother to baby as the soother will make a breastfed baby confused. At the mean time, this could let mummy’s sore nipple to heal. Therefore, they let me try this Avent’s soother. However, I don’t like it at all! I pushed it out with my tongue after I sucked on it 2-3 times. Of course la… no milk milk and not as soft as mummy’s nipple. Then, the adults got me the lime green soother as they thought the Avent’s soother’s shape doesn’t look like breast nipple shape. Unfortunately, I rejected it as usual. Nevertheless, the adults still don’t want to give up. They went to buy another soother which is the blue color from NUK. And this one was made of latex as they thought the silicone’s soother wasn’t that soft enough. Well, well, well…after much effort they’ve put in, I entertained them a bit la. I sucked on the soother longer and the soother stayed in my mouth for few seconds only… hahah! Actually, I have a total of 6 soothers as each of them comes in a pack of 2. :D

So, what type of soother that soothes me to sleep? My favourite one is still mummy’s breast nipple. Besides this…they are my fingers especially the thumb! But, I don’t suck on them often. I usually sleep without any soothers if I’m rocked to sleep using the Fisher Price rocking chair or the swinging cradle during day time when mummy’s at work. All I need is my ‘napping buddy‘. However, at night, I must have the ‘soother from mummy‘ when it’s bed time! Hehe…

Mummy has heard long long time ago stories about Bisphenol A (BPA) chemical being released into baby’s milk when the plastic(polycarbonate) feeding bottles are heated. Avent is one of the top 5 Non BPA free bottles. And since my Avent feeding bottles need to be changed after every 3 months usage, therefore, mummy went to check out for BPA free plastic feeding bottles. There are few brands sold in the market which they claimed that their products are BPA free such as Medela, Nuby, Munchkin, Born Free(US only) etc. Well, mummy got me two MAM Ultivent bottles from Metrojaya yesterday after she’s done some internet browsing about BPA free bottles. She chose MAM because MAM Ultivent model is easy to clean the bottle’s base and it doesn’t have colourful prints like other BPA free bottle brands.

MAM claimed that their feeding bottles are made from Polypropylene and BPA free! It says that the Ultivent bottles are designed to help prevent colic. The teats named Silk Teat are specially designed as similar as the shape of breast’s nipple so that it could provide the ‘breast-like’ feeding and encourage baby to suckle from the bottle and bla bla bla… Anyway, if you would like to know more about MAM’s products you may check it out here… http://www.mambaby.co.uk/ The bottles’ shape and colour are pretty cool and nice….but, I DON’T LIKE the TEAT la! Sorry MAM, I love u not… HaHa… I think I have made mummy mad and she’s going to kill me as the 2 MAM Ultivent bottles cost her RM58 nett :P . More ever, MAM is a UK brand but made in China… hah!

Front and side view of the so called Silk Teat… hah!

Perhaps, I’ve been introduced the Avent’s feeding bottle since I was born and I’m get used or trained to suckle Avent’s teat. Well, I’ve been introduced to this new MAM Ultivent feeding bottle just today. Maybe I’ll try to get used to it one day… hopefully la :D . Otherwise, save it for my future sibling(s) lo… hehe ;)

Mummy has introduced me to 2 new things today. Firstly, mummy introduced to me the baby sling which daddy bought from Singapore 2 weeks ago. The baby sling is simply a length of cotton cloth that wrap around a baby and secure it by 2 rings at the shoulder. It’s a traditional way carrying a baby in a sling. Besides, it helps mummy to ease her arms after carrying my 9.3kg body for long hours and also good for breastfeeding me in public. Well, she used the sling to carry & breastfeed me in public this morning when my family and I attended yee yee’s SPM straight As Achievement Award at Dome, Komtar. By the way, congratulations to yee yee!

Next, mummy introduced me the sleeping sack (bought from Ethan’s mommy) when it’s time for my afternoon nap. The sleeping sack is kinda like a sleeping bag. However, this baby sleeping sack is specially made for babies as a replacement of loose blankets in order to reduce the risk of SIDS. Well, I always kick off the blankets. Therefore, mummy bought the sleeping sack for me so that it will keep me covered and warm all night long especially sleeping in an air-cond room.

The Baby Sling & Sleeping Sack.

Here’s me in the sling at the achievement award ceremony.

Dozing off while waiting for CM’s arrival. So sleepy coz mummy woke me up at 8am!

Sleeping in the sling. Couldn’t be bothered when they played the national anthem, hah!

Here’s me wearing the sleeping sack. Pose pose a bit for the photo album… hehe!

Yo! I look handsome or not in this sleeping sack?

There are rooms for me to do my kungfu too!

Aaahhh….not bad wor… it feels nice & comfortable. I think it’s time for Zzzz!

My Batteries flat… :)

Two months ago, mummy fell sick. She kept vomiting and also felt her head spinning. No, she’s not getting me a sibling yet! Doctor said that she’d very low blood pressure and advised mummy to take more nutritious food, iron & drink milk since she produces my milk. Therefore, she bought EnfaMama A+ (for pregnant & breastfeeding mothers) to help support her nutritional needs and also an additional for me. According to EnfaMama A+, it provides important nutrients like DHA & Choline. Also, it’s high in

  • Folic acid for proper growth and development
  • Calcium to support strong bones and teeth
  • Iron for formation of red blood cells

Besides, I also get these nutrients too through mummy’s milk… :)

However, mummy has been quite worried lately. It’s already been 4 weeks and I’m still unable to finish up my milk when my grandma feeds me by using the feeding bottle everyday. Before that, I could drink up 5oz on every 3 hours. Then, I only managed to drink up 3oz and sometimes 2oz. When the adults force me to finish it up, I’ll try to block or push the bottle’s teat out with my tongue meanwhile I’ll just let the milk flow out from my mouth. If they give few more tries on me, I’ll scream and turn my face away or push away the feeding bottle. The adults thought that I might teething soon.

However, if mummy breastfeed me directly, I definitely won’t decline and drink without hesitation. Furthermore, I never reject mummy’s offer as it will soothes me to sleep. Mummy said that I must have like my milk fresh instead of refrigerated or frozen expressed breast milk. Hmm, maybe she’s right. Fresh is still the best! Do you agree? ;)

Anyway, mummy has checked with her friends and they told her that it’s normal for babies reduce their milk intake at 4-5months old and will return back to normal intake after that. This week, I manage to finish up 4oz and if I not in the mood, I’ll put a stop at 3oz.

Mummy took this photo by herself while she breastfeed me… very efficient leh??

In the mean time, my grandma complains that I’m such a busy body nowadays. When it’s time for milk, everyone at home needs to stop talking or make any noise. Otherwise, their conversation would attract my attention to join in and refuse to finish my milk. Besides, anybody walks by when I’m drinking my milk on my rocking chair, I will not let go a single chance from checking it out on them… hehe, I’m real “kaypo” heh? ;)
